Trust No One!

The opening song in church today at the Kauluwela Mission Corps (Hawaii) was, ""Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus." It was farewell Sunday for the Divisional leader's, Dusty and Shelly Hill. The prayer chorus, "In Thee O Lord Do I Put My Trust," followed the DC's message on... yes, you guessed it, Trust.

During the opening song, Doris leaned over and whispered, "Notice the tattoo on the arm of the person sitting in front of us" (close up pictured left). I read those words as I watched the man mouthing the words, "Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus" - a bit paradoxical, don't you think?

Again during the prayer service, I watched him sing, "In Thee O Lord, do I put my trust." At that moment, I snapped the photo top left, whereupon he stood and made his way to the altar to place an Amen upon those words (right after the photo was taken).

I introduced myself following the service, asking permission to take a photo of his tattoo for a blog I would be writing. His name is Neil and he is presently residing in the Honolulu ARC program. He's come a long way since having those words inked on his forearm. Now the words, "Trust in Jesus," are inked upon his heart.

It wasn't appropriate or timely to ask about the story behind that tattoo. I did gather, however, that he is involved in The Rock, my son's beach corps on the West shore. So "the rest of the story" will come later. I can't wait to hear it.

He is a very good friend of mine, and "trust in Jesus" is definetlly inked upon his heart now. Like Paul, the very one who used to bash at Christians.... Is now a Christian himself. His testimony is proof that God exist. Like many mighty men in the arc program, he has changed his life and now lives for God. Alot of us in that program have tattoos....some Godly, and some not so Godly, but after being led to Christ by tha salvation army church, Jesus is definetlly inked upon our hearts.

Thanks for this witness, Tyson. I know that Jesus is inked upon your hearts. The witness and image was so powerful, spiritually, that I just felt led to share it. I think tattoos, no matter the message they portray, make good witnessing opportunities. Think about it. Neil can take "Trust no One" and turn that into a powerful witnessing tool. I'm thinking there's a story in there for a witnessing film for SAVN.TV. Bless you guys.
