The Christian Ghetto!

Charles Roberts has a great blog going: http://openingsalvocr.blogspot.com
I don’t know if he coined the term, “Christian Ghetto” or not, but it really resonates, especially with this emerging generation. No need for me to expound on this subject, as he does so very nicely in his “Incarnational” series.

His February 10 post, “Cross My Fence, Cross My Street, Change My World” is a must read for young, aspiring, inspiring, Salvation Army leaders (in context to his other posts in the series). In part, he writes:

“In grappling with The Four Immersions (New Culture, New Community, God, Tension) I am forcing myself out of the Christian ghetto. By 2020, only about 10% of Americans will be comfortable in the traditional church setting. 90%, therefore will want something different when it comes to faith. Authentic. Relevant. Accessible.”

I wonder, is TSA authentic, relevant, and accessible to the 90%? Dare I even suggest the possibility of “A Salvation Army Ghetto” existing out there?  How about giving CR a day to address this subject with The Commissioner’s Conference? Or at TEC’s across the country. No need for outside church growth gurus telling us how to do it, me thinks.
