Danny Boy

This the title of a short film we made as a showpiece to demonstrate the quality of work we are capable of. I was one of the Executive Producers, Guy writer, producer and director. Had its premier screening at the of Academy of Television and Motion Pictures. It was an official Selection of The Hollywood Film Festival, San Fernando Valley International Film Fest, Sacramento Film and Music Fest, and Valley Film Festival. For his directing work, Guy was selected as a featured filmmaker on MTV’s Best Film Maker On Campus. It was also winner of the "Golden Honu Award" at the Big Island Film Festival, Hawaii. I was there to accept the award on Guy’s behalf. This year, they asked permission to feature it again at the Mauna Lani Resort. I sat in on many of the screenings and the crowd reaction was phenomenol.

A short trailer of the film was originally placed on YouTube, to this date 10,543 viewings:

For the full length feature (9:40 minutes), click on the following (1284 viewings so far). On both be sure to check out comments on the thread following:

One of our dreams, hopes and ambitions is to follow with a full length feature film. Following is a synopsis:

A wonderfully dark comedy, Elmer’s Glue follows the journey from addiction, through rehabilitation, and ultimately into the light of recovery. After hitting rock bottom, Elmer is court-ordered into a Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center. Just as he begins to embrace his recovery, Elmer stumbles across a suitcase full of cash while sorting through a thrift store donation bin. The true owner of the loot, a dangerous mob hit man, stashed the money while fleeing law enforcement and will stop at nothing to regain his fortune, even if that means committing himself into the rehab program. Elmer’s inner journey of redemption (including a B-line love story) combined with the relentless pursuit by a bloodthirsty killer, make for a whimsical rollercoaster ride to be enjoyed by all ages. Filled with twists and turns, the ending surprising and heartwarming.”

And who knows, the stars of Danny Boy, Clint Howard and Gabriel Damon, might even team up again for this epic adventure. For more go to www.hallowedgroundproductions.com.

Love Takes Courage!

I love the Canada and Bermuda Territory’s position statement on Gay and Lesbian Sexuality, very balanced and inclusive:

“The Salvation Army upholds the dignity of all persons. For this reason, and in obedience to the example of Jesus Christ, whose compassionate love is all-embracing, The Salvation Army does not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation in the delivery of its services.

The Salvation Army believes that God’s will for the expression of sexual intimacy is revealed in the Bible, and that living fully in accordance with biblical standards calls for chastity outside of heterosexual marriage and faithfulness within it. We do not believe that same-sex attraction is necessarily blameworthy and we oppose the vilification and mistreatment of gays and lesbians. We believe that we are accountable for the ways in which we express our sexuality. While recognizing the challenge that this presents, The Salvation Army believes firmly in the power of God’s grace to enable all to live in a manner that is pleasing to Him.

In keeping with our mission, we are committed to proclaiming the good news of salvation, the forgiveness of sins, and transformation by the Holy Spirit. We welcome all seekers of faith in Christ to explore Salvation Army church life.”

Way to go Canada! Mirrors the thinking expressed in my book, “Lean Right, Love Left! Balancing the Body,” available: http://www.joenoland.com/joenoland/Creations.html
